"Camel Red rekindled the impact of the day at Valley Forge Army Hospital when I recognized
a man I had known since high school days as a respected competitor on the playing field."
"It captures the essence of what this most courageous patient experienced, his pain, suffering, and
resiliency. It shows how against all odds this battlefield hero managed not only to survive, but to go
on to lead an exemplary life."

"WE OWE OUR FREEDOMS TO INDIVIDUALS LIKE LARRY AND CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH."

"READING HERON'S STORY REAWAKENED MEMORIES OF A HOST OF SEVERELY WOUNDED BRAVE MEN AND THE GREAT SATISFACTION OUR SURGICAL TEAMS DERIVED FROM RETURNING THEM TO USEFUL LIVES. IT IS A GREAT AMERICAN STORY OF SURVIVAL."

A tender love story that takes place during an era when answering the call to duty without question was commonplace, and personal sacrifices were made for the good of all.

Read CAMEL RED to learn about Larry Heron's many great accomplishments despite the cruel hand that fate dealt him and how fate crossed his path with a legendary chaplain he had known as a priest before the war, and with that of a famous doctor who would go on to receive the 1990 Nobel prize in Medicine for performing the first organ (kidney) transplant.

Learn how Heron became one of America's greatest living patriots and why the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) bestowed upon him a singular honor, one that has never been matched before, nor repeated since.

Camel Red Required Reading by US Troops Headed for Afghanistan.
This really happened!
The grandaughter of Larry Heron was attending a party in Central Massachusetts when a soldier standing nearby overheard her mention that Camel Red had been written about her grandfather. He came over and told her that he had thoroughly enjoyed reading Camel Red. He went on to add that he read the book because he was about to embark on a tour in Afghanistan and that Camel Red was listed as required reading by units heading for action in there.
